Muse Interiors

Every few weeks I like to highlight some children's room designs by other fellow interior designers. This week I chose Muse Interiors after seeing this kitchen the blog Cococozy. It has every element that I'm looking for in my kitchen re-model: some marble (although I prefer soapstone), simple and clean hardware and cabinet trim, modern bar stools, killer light fixtures and a touch of wallpaper. Since I liked the kitchen so much I headed on over to the Muse Interiors portfolio and loved what I saw. Here are a few highlights of designs by the Greenwich, Connecticut design firm.

Boys room in red, white and blue. You can't go wrong with theses traditional colors. The blue carpet leaves room for white walls and simple bedding.

Teenage boy's room free of clutter and the graphic Jonathan Adler pillows add just enough pattern to make the space visually interesting without being over-done.

The mudroom - oh to have room for one of these someday. I like how the shoes are hidden underneath the cubbies and the stenciled compass on the floor adds an unexpected surprise.

And the pool house bar, simple with a touch of modern rustic charm. As you know I am a sucker for patterned floors! Painted wood this time.

Caden Lane's New Bumperless Crib Sets

Finally someone decided to make some bumperless crib sets full of color and pattern! The design dilemma most people have is they want the mix and match of pattern and color found in bumpers, but are afraid of the safety for their child. If this sounds like you, head on over to Project Nursery today to read my post on the new bumperless crib sets from Caden Lane.

Also Caden Lane is offering Project Nursery readers 15% off their entire order with code PN15 as well as free shipping for orders over $100. They have a great assortment of bibs, burp cloths, hooded towels and pacifier clips in new prints which make wonderful shower and new baby gifts.

Mommy-to-be Gift Box of Erbaviva - $80
(includes their fabulous stretch mark cream, foot balm, milk bath, & lip balm for nausea)

(100% natural linen with a unique monogram)

(ok this one is over $100 but a chilly night staple for this summer)

My last one is on my personal wish list, a charm necklace by Jennifer Fisher Jewelry. You can go over the top with jeweled charms or keep it simple with names.

High vs Low - Patterned Animal Silhouettes

Yes my High vs Low posts have been MIA for a while but they are back!

image via Stijlstudio Jet

The much-admired original oversized animal and tree wallpaper decals featured in many nursery & children's room designs in Europe are by a company called Inke from the Netherlands.

The decals run around $150 per animal and come in an assortment of patterns and colors. Clients love them because they are oversized, colorful and playful. They are not stick-on decals and are more like actual wallpaper so cannot be easily peeled off the wall by your child. The Inke wallpaper decals are available in shapes such as monkeys, tigers, birds, cats, giraffes, alligators, birds and trees.
Now Pottery Bard Kids has jumped on the decal bandwagon for a while now. But now they have come out with their own version of oversized animal decals.

The animals in the Lily Animal Decal Set are not as large and have more of a subdued pattern but at $189 for three elephants and three giraffes, the price is pretty darn good. The Peel-and-stick set is easy to apply and remove.

These would look lovely with some bedding like the Udaiper set from Rickshaw Design shown below.

For another great High vs Low (actually High, Medium, Low) check out the blog post on Sketch 42 today on Chevron Rugs.

Lulu deKwiatowski's Twin's Room in NYC

Alira from Nero Chronicles had a post today featuring the twin's room of textile designer Lulu deKwiatowski in New York City and I wanted to share it with you all in case you missed it.

The sophisticated mix of modern Nurseryworks Loom cribs paired with an antique table used as a changing table and a french-styled daybed works lovely. As many of you know, Lulu also designs a line of textiles for Matouk bedding and those are the pieces featured on the daybed and crib, specifically the Confetti pattern. The room is not overly styled. The furniture and large piece of artwork behind the cribs take center stage. The walls look to be a seagrass texture in light grey with a hint of lavender and blue.

For more photos of Lulu's NYC home as well as additional photos of the nursery visit the New York Social Diary post. Photographs by Jeffrey Hirsch.

She's pretty fabulous don't you think?

Annette Tatum Website is Open for Business!

If you read children's magazines, children's design blogs such as mine and Project Nursery or have ever been shopping for nursery or children's bedding, you have run across designs by Annette Tatum. She is the designer and creator behind Little House (formerly House Inc.) and Annette Tatum. Annette is a mother of four from Los Angeles and was one of the master minds behind the "Layered Lifestyle" look of years past. Her design philosophy is all about layering, collecting and comfort. The look of the Annette Tatum collection is soft and calming paying special attention to layering large and small patterns to create visually stimulating bedding. Her collections span from adult lines to child and baby and are printed on 100% cotton made in Los Angeles. Her first book The Well Dressed Home is a must read for anyone who likes to decorate. (This also makes a wonderful Mother's Day gift.)

Before now, the line was only available at specialty boutiques (we carried the line at Sprout) or on-line at a few select retailers, but now Annette Tatum has released their on-line retail site. The entire collection can be ordered and viewed on-line. Here are a few of my favorite bedding sets for baby and kids. The bedding is mix and match so have fun being creative!

Throughout the end of the week, Annette Tatum has offered Nursery Notations readers FREE SHIPPING ending on 4/29/11 on everything on the site. Just enter promotion code NNship when checking out.

The canvas art pieces which she designs for Oopsy Daisy are also available on-line.

The furniture line will be available on-line soon too! They have a wonderful assortment of colors to spice up any space.

Easter Weekend

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. My mom came into town to spend Easter with us and we had a blast. Friday started off with a beach egg hunt for the little ones. Yes even the Easter bunny came too!

Saturday I had a girl's day and went wedding dress shopping with one of my best friends for her September wedding in Tahoe. Man I love wedding dress shopping! Makes you want to re-new your vows all over again!

Here is my son's Easter Sunday outfit. To DIE for! He and his dad had matching seersucker suits. The cutest thing ever.

Sunday started off with mass then brunch and an Easter egg hunt complete with pony rides, a petting zoo, and a little putting.

Giving thanks this Easter for all of our blessings!

Little Choux - New On-Line Boutique

Being a former on-line and store owner myself, I love finding new boutiques on-line and out and about. Well this new on-line store Little Choux just recently opened up and I can seriously find something I want on every page! What I really like is that the products are handpicked from vendors around the world, not the same lines that you see in almost every large on-line shop. Little Choux carries childrenswear, toys and decor with handmade flair.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces in the store:

(Functional and would make a great decorative collage on the wall)

(How cute would this be monogrammed as a gift?)

(Not your average storage basket, plus it comes in an assortment of colors)

Now through the end of April, they are offering Nursery Notations readers 10% off their entire purchase with promotion code NURSERYNOTES. Happy Shopping!

Also, Little Choux just posted a link on their Facebook page to some items on their site that would coordinate with my Modern Beach Inspired Nursery Design featured this week! Check it out HERE!
