Happy Halloween!

Nothing like decorating for Halloween with a $345 rabbit fur skull pillow...seriously a fun idea but would you ever spend that much for a pillow that looked like this?

My little guy (Buzz) and his cousin last night...let the festivities continue!

Halloween-Orange Inspired Decor

Since I've had a lack of Halloween posts this week due to our new arrival, here are some images of decor spaces featuring one of my favorite colors - Orange:

A girl's room I designed with custom bookcases accented in orange.

A punch of orange in a dresser via Blue Hydrangea

An orange chair via Caitlin Creer (love the rug too)

Another great rug, this one was a DIY via Charm Home!

Everyone loves this room featuring orange headboards designed by Palmer Weiss featured in Lonny

This teen study/media room is a more modern interpretation of orange.  Via HGTV

Or just paint the trim of the windows orange like this design by Ally Banks Interiors via VT Interiors

And the following are some stylish adult spaces which I wanted to share...

A lacquer ceiling in bold orange is a sure way to make a statement.

Or try an orange velvet sofa like this elegant one by Tyler Dawson via the Zhush

A kitchen in Sweden via Freshome with a true Halloween spirit.

I'm really eyeing that kitchen. Don't think I'd have the guts to do it, but still love it!

Interior Designer Betty Wasserman

If you like no fuss, warm, modern, minimal design, may I introduce you to designer Betty Wasserman.  New York designer Betty Wasserman was originally an art dealer and in 1996 moved in to the arena of interior design.  She still represents artists who help make her minimally designed spaces unique and full of character.

If you have time to look through the site, you will notice that most of the homes have photos of children running around.  I think this is to show you that even with kids in a house you don't have to sacrifice on sophisticated, modern, elegant style. She does not have a large amount of children's spaces photographed but here are a few fun and functional designs.

None of these rooms below are children's rooms but I'm drooling over the whole Modern Farmhouse portfolio.

Chaises instead of a sectional in a play/tv room? Brilliant!

Piamita Pajamas

After lounging around in my pajamas the past week I have a true appreciation for these new stylish ensembles from Piamita, a new luxury loungewear company.  Seriously one could step out in these anywhere and still feel like a million bucks!

Think they will make a cotton version with easy access for breastfeeding next?  Highly doubtful! Regardless I still want some!

Announcing Patton Christina King

As most of you read on Friday, we welcomed our little girl Patton Christina King into the world on Tuesday October 18th. She was 8 lb 6 oz and 20 inches long.  Not a small baby.

Since my son's labor was 18 hours long and quite the roller coaster ride.  This 6 hour labor was a cinch.  It only took three pushes and she was out!  Everyone was  happy and healthy and we came home from the hospital just 50 hours after she was born.  My son Tripp loves being a big brother and always wants to hold her.  It just makes my heart melt.  She already the apple of her daddy's eye too.

I wanted to write a special thank you to my family for all of their love and support. We appreciate all that you do for us and could not thank you enough for always being there for us.

Yes this is an adorable Halloween romper and matching hat by Kissy Kissy.  I'm already loving dressing a girl.

Oh and many of you have asked me, no I was not blogging from the hospital, I have posts lined up for two weeks already pre-written so that I can enjoy this special time with my family.  So I apologize if I don't respond as quickly as usual to your comments. Thank you for all of your kind works and congratulations.

Eli's Big Boy Room by Andrika King Design

So you know the photographer Liz of Life Iz Photography who takes all the wonderful photography for me in Los Angeles of my family and rooms which I have designed?  Well I'm sharing some photos with you today of her own son's room that I helped her out with.

Her son is three years old and full of energy so we wanted a room which reflected his playful personality.  The pieces in the room are a mix of high and low with furniture from Oeuf, Nurseryworks and Target. And bedding and accessories from Ikea and Oilo Studio.

Liz and her son love everything Disney and many of the decorative accessories were purchased on trips to Disneyland and Disneyworld.  And of course the photographs are by her.  They are custom printed on stretched protective canvas with green color accents on the boarder.  I'm getting one of these done next!

For more photos of this room and many more please visit my portfolio on Andrika King Design.

Baby Girl King Inspirational Images

Finally, I'm revealing more of my inspirational images for baby girl King's nursery.  Everything started with the Wren bedding set from Serena & Lily which I purchased years ago because I loved it so much and was afraid it might get discontinued one day (crazy right!).

Next I skewed the color pallet a bit after I saw the "color twist" combo via Design Seeds below and pulled out a peachy light coral pink as my central complimentary color.

I gathered more images to make sure I like the look...and the room concept was born.

Next step was to start purchasing decorative accessories. (I already had the glider, crib and changer)

I have actually commissioned my sister to make a 30" x 30" original abstract piece of artwork for the nursery based on my inspirational images.  I don't have an extra $3000 to spend on a piece like the one above by Sally Benedict King which I love.

My sister is so talented I can't wait to see how it turns out...more to come as the room progresses!  The room won't be finished until December when the fabric for my window treatments comes in...
