Children's Rooms by Carla Lane

If any of you get the LA Times, I'm sure you stumbled across this nursery the Home & Design section designed by Carla Lane Interiors for the 2012 Santa Barbara Design House . (This photo is actually from California Homes Magazine as the photo from the paper is a little blurry). Talk about amazing!  And no that is not wallpaper, it is Lulu DK's new fabric for Schumacher Jungle Jubilee up on the walls.

Albeit amazing covering the walls in an embroidered fabric like this must have cost a fortune!  Rumor has it that they will be coming out with the wallpaper version in 2013 so if you love it, hold tight.

But Carla Lane does a fabulous job designing children's rooms.  Here are a few of my favorites that I found in her portfolio today.

Chic Tribeca Playroom

Leave it to actress Leelee Sobieski to have the Heller Joe Baseball Glove Sofa that every little boy dreams of! Quite the chic playroom.

And who doesn't have a life-sized giraffe in their dining room?

A House Built Just For Kids

I don't think I have ever seen a home like this before.

The entire loft apartment looks like it was designed just for kids.  Every room features bright, playful and modern colors and designed by Inc Architecture and Design in NYC.

I was first drawn to this house because of the genius indoor playhouse. The Cole & Son wallpaper is a perfect backdrop to the modern masterpiece.

Then the rest of the children's rooms were just as fabulous with private play spaces in each room.  I suppose you need to make sure children have plenty of hide away space if you live in a loft with an open floor plan.

The blue playroom wall almost serves as a rotating gallery for the children's artwork.

Have you ever seen a blue piano before? This family is definitely no afraid of color!

Treehouse Awe

Now this is a treehouse! Even mom and dad could fit for a family sleep over.

Temporary Wall Tiles from Blik

Venice-based vinyl decal design studio What is Blik? has just released a few new designs by Jim Houser of their temporary wall tiles (otherwise known as sticker wallpaper).  For those who fear wallpaper commitment these are perfect.  I love the scallops pattern for a bathroom or boys room by the sea and the amps for a tween boys bedroom.

Or how about a classic Keith Haring for a playroom...fitting right?

Whimsical Pieces from Kids Factory

What kid wouldn't love to have one of these as a hideaway in their bedroom or playroom?

Designed by creative forces at Kids Factory in the how can we get these in the US?

Children's Rooms in Lonny Magazine

I look forward to the release of each issue of Lonny. And now that it is monthly I don't have to wait as long anymore!

In the September issue, two Los Angeles designers Joe Lucas and Parrish Chilcoat of Lucas Studio featured.  They recently remodeled a home for a client who was due in a few months (similar to what I go through all the time - "baby is coming in three months...I haven't ordered anything me").  The home screams "lived-in California cool" and looks like a wonderful cozy and hip place to live.  The nursery is modern yet comfortable.

Couldn't you see yourself dining with some friends at this table?

Then another playful nursery and playroom across the country in NYC designed by Lily Bunn Weeks is featured a few pages down. Aren't those balloon shades in the Ikat to die for?

But I will say my favorite room is the hallway...

Then for those with eclectic style, the children's rooms of fashion designer Ariane Goldman have a cool summery cabin vibe to East Hampton.

Thank you Lonny for remembering the little ones this month!

Bunk Room Friday

Modern in design with rustic elements in the rails and ladder.  This would be a perfect bunk room for a home in Greece!
