Join Me For A Modern Playroom "Pin" Party

I'm thrilled to be participating in a "pin" (Pinterest) party on Wednesday night.  A few selected writers on Project Nursery (including myself) have been asked to help create a modern playroom design using Little Nest furniture.  If you are designing a modern playroom definitely sign up to follow this board as it will be a good one.

Prayers for Oklahoma

Take a few moments out of your day to send prayers to the victims and families of the victims of the tragic mile-wide tornado that hit Oklahoma today. So many innocent lives were lost and homes destroyed.

Although I live in California now, I grew up with Tornado drills and warnings in Texas and even experienced a small one with my family which traveled over the DFW airport last year. So this natural disaster hits close to home for me.  Please reach out to your local Red Cross, Salvation Army and church to donate clothing, household items and money to those who lost everything.

New Ideabook on Houzz: Simple to Stunning TeePees and Tents

Check out my newest ideabook on Houzz featuring some of my favorite TeePees and Tents on the market.

After my ideabook was already published I saw this adorable play tent "Preppy Playhouse" in Pottery Barn Kids and had to share it with you all. I showed it to my four year old son and he said he even wanted it! Pretty darn cute!

Quadro Rug

I saw this Quadro rug last week at CB2 in Santa Monica and thought it was a great piece for a tween bedroom or a playroom. Graphic sophisticated style with playful childish color.

Turns out the editors at Lonny liked it too as it is featured this month in their Scout guide.

Bedroom and Playroom Combined Euro Style

Those Europeans make everything modern look so chic.  If you have a large room in your house why not combine the playroom with the bedroom?

Surface Skins from Blik

Seriously, how amazing are these new surface skins from Blik?  Apply them to any smooth surface to create a dynamic art piece.  I can't wait to use the Homage (above) for a kids art table.

Or the Guache is pretty spectacular too!  I wonder if it would work on my West Elm Parson's desk?

The skins are available in four sizes and can be used to cover table tops, desk tops or can be cut to fit cabinets and dressers.

Where would you use them?  Answer the question on the Blik website in their wrapped giveaway to enter into their giveaway of these new skins!

Personalized Photo Mother's Day Ideas

Mother's Day is just around the corner and no one is more touched my photo gifts than a mom.  Buy one of these beautiful photo books by Artifact Uprising for your mom, grandmother and mother-in-law and throw in a copy for yourself!  My favorite is the 50 page hardcover 8.5" x 8.5" for $69.  If you don't want to spend that much they also have a soft cover version which I just purchased to document a ski trip for $28. They also have instagram-friendly books in the 5" x 5" or 8.5" x 8.5" size which is perfect to share with those who aren't linked into social media!

If you don't have time to make a book, my favorite on-line paperie Minted also has some wonderful personalized gifts for Mother's Day. This year they offer new individual customizable Mother's Day Cards.  The cards run $5.99 a piece which is the price of two bad generic ones from Target!  And these cards will be displayed and much more appreciate by mom!  Here are a few favorites!

Take a few moments and make something personal today!

Brand New Chandeliers on Close Out

I've got some great deals for you all in the next few weeks. I'm cleaning out my storage until with items that are brand new, never used and need to be moved out. These are all pieces that were ordered for client projects that didn't work out and I would rather sell them to you all than pay the restocking fee to return them as they are all in great never used condition.

First on the list: A Smokey Glass Chandelier by Currey & Co.
Dimensions: 31" rd x 28" high
Basically a murano lookalike for a fraction of the price.  It is made of blown glass with sophisticated curves and a nickel finish. A perfect piece for a bedroom with tall ceilings, a dining room or in an entry way that needs a little glamour.  The piece retails for $900 but we are selling it for $500 plus the cost of shipping unless you want to pick it up in Manhattan Beach! It is still in its box in original packaging so basically brand new!

Please e-mail me at andrika@mac.com if you are interested in the piece.

Second on the List: A Rustic Industrial-inspired Cage Pendant by Noir
Dimensions: 22.5" rd x 23' high
An engaging piece great for a boy's room or for your entry hall as long as you have high ceilings.  I'd also like to see it used as an outdoor light under a patio. It is made out of an iron metal with a rubbed bronze finish. This piece has also never been used and is in new condition. It retails for $500 but we are selling it for $300 plus shipping unless you can pick it up in Manhattan Beach.

Ok those are the only lights I have at the moment, both great buys and unique pieces which would work in many areas of the home.

Please e-mail me at andrika@mac.com if you are interested in either piece.

Chic Swaddle Blankets

I saw these Coyuchi swaddle blankets on Stroller Traffic today and loved them so much I had to pass them along to my readers.  Pretty stylish right?  I always found myself (with my second child) wearing the organic Aiden and Anais swaddle blankets as a last minute scarf and these are even cuter and a little more subtle!

Old School Desk for a Modern Space

I'm obsessing over this old school desk by Canadian company Tipy. It is perfect for a modern, eclectic or traditional home.  It could even serve as a wonderful multi-functional side table to a bed or as a personal office space near a kitchen.  Where would you put this?

New Paper Mache from Dwell Studio

I love this new Paper Mache Deer Head from Dwell Studio.  The deer actually looks sweet especially with the little yellow bird sitting on the antlers.

It is currently out of stock but you can put your name on the wait list for when it becomes available.

Another cute new paper mache item are their new birds.  How cute would these be on a painted mural tree or decal tree to add a 3-dimentional element to the room?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter with their families!

Friday Fun Find - Reversible Nautical Blanket

It seems like everyone that I know who is having babies this spring is having a boy! Since I'm on the search for new baby gifts all the time (and primarily ones with a decor-theme), I had to share this adorable baby blanket with your from Land's End.

And for those southerners out there it is available monogrammed!

Have a wonderful Good Friday everyone! I'm excited for Easter weekend and Spring Break with my family for New York and Texas in town.  Stay tuned for some fun posts next week including my first giveaway in a while!

Minted's Birth Announcement Inspiration Board Challenge

My favorite on-line stationary store - Minted, is hosting a Birth Announcement Inspiration Board Challenge.  They are giving away over $2000 in prizes and you can win just by creating an inspiration board and embedding it to your blog.  It is extremely easy to enter as they have software on the site that you can use to upload images and create your board. And if you like Pinterest or Polyvore, this is the contest for you!  So get off Facebook and turn off your favorite trashy TV show and get to work!  The contest ends on Monday March 25th so you only have a few more days.

My top three favorite deign boards so far entered into the contest:

Peach and Pink by Brittany Warren:

Bebe Story by Rufina:

Not So Wild West by Ann Gardner:

Ok I had to add in one wedding board from another challenge because it was too pretty to pass up, but it shows the true beauty of inspiration:

Havana Wedding by Lauren Chism

Good luck!

Kids Rooms in the March Issue of Lonny Magazines

I always find the time to read the monthly on-line issue of Lonny.  This March issue holds a special place in my heart because they have decided to feature some wonderful children's rooms and products this month.

My favorite child's room in the issue is the playroom in Connecticut designed by Lisa Sherry of Lisa Sherry Interiors.  The bunk room is pretty spectacular too!

Luckily we also got a glimpse at a second bunk room designed by designer Jennifer Jansch.

Don't you love the grey privacy curtains with tape trim?

The older daughter has a more sophisticated grey version of a bunk nook placed perfectly under a pitched ceiling.

Now my favorite find in this issue is the Mini Mughal Tent. Extravegent but so chic and good looking! I'd want to camp out in that!

Perfectly Pink Nursery

As promised here is the first batch of new room photos.  This is a precious pink nursery in Manhattan Beach. The nursery belongs to a second daughter for the family so we used the furniture from the first child but spruced up the room with new bedding, accessories, rug, window treatments and a personalized painted mural. I think "precious" pretty much summarizes this room.

Personal Updates and Sneak Peeks

So I guess it is time for some personal updates!  I've been pretty busy the past few months working on some wonderful projects. Most of them are full service clients and I've actually even been working on more living spaces and full homes than anything.  But I have a few projects from the end of last year that I finally got around to getting photographed so I'll be sharing those with you in the next two weeks. I have about six more that need to be photographed in April and am dying to share those with you!

Here is a sneak peek:

Big Sister's Room

But on a more personal level I'm 21 weeks pregnant! Yup! #3 will be here in July! (Here I am all dolled up for a wedding in Sea Island, GA a few weeks ago, belly in full glory.)

We are over the moon with joy and nervous about the new challenges of changing to a household of 5! But I feel great and have had a relatively easy pregnancy so far. So my busy work schedule and personal family addition have sadly taken time away from this blog.  But if you need inspiration between blog posts I'm constantly posting current projects on Instagram like the bunk room below which is almost completed. (You can find me under andrikaso) and on Pinterest.

And don't forget that I write bi-monthly posts on Project Nursery such as my High vs Low last week on Project Nursery on Round Leather Mirrors, and monthly product ideabooks on Houzz
